The Misconceptions of Unity

As we ponder the meaning of Biblical unity, we need to consider how easy it is for us to be persuaded by movements that pitch peace and harmony and little else. Peace and harmony are certainly to be desired, but how do we actually realize these ideals? Do we pursue the ideal itself; surrendering all to a charismatic leader with charismatic promises, or do we pursue the One who actually holds all these ideals in His perfect, loving hands? This week, we will be looking at the some of the paths our culture provides to achieve unity and comparing those against the biblical prescription for true unity – that which is found in Christ alone.
